LHS Celebrates Computer Science Education Week 2015
Lamar High School students celebrated Computer Science Education Week 2015 by participating in an Hour of Code. Students in Ms. Bradley's and Ms. Greene's math classes were introduced to basic computer science concepts by working for an hour (sometimes more for enthusiastic students) on computer programming on various topics including Angry Birds, Flappy Bird, Frozen, Minecraft, and Star Wars. Students had to use critical thinking skills to make various actions happen in each program. After completing all of the stages for a concept, students were given a certificate of completion for the Hour of Code. Computer Science Education Week is held during a week in December to honor computer pioneer Admiral Grace Murray Hopper whose birthday was December 9, 1906.
