Music and Fine Arts
Courses offered by the Music Department:
Marching Band - This course involves the study of music and marching performance skills. This ensemble will perform at school and civic functions throughout the year.
Chorus - The student will perform quality choral literature in two, three, and four parts representing a wide variety of styles and periods. Skills in sight reading and ear training, as well as reading music notations are developed. The study of good diction, correct posture, and proper breath support is an important component of this course. Individual growth, as well as ensemble development, is encouraged.
Music Appreciation - A music appreciation course can be a window into a better understanding of music of all types. In decades past, most music appreciation courses focused almost exclusively on Western classical music. However, the curriculum scope has broadened. This class includes some instruction on Word Music, in addition to material on music basics, periods, instruments and composers.
